Area of specialization Evolutionary ecology of infectious disease systems

Research interests My main area of interest is the evolution of diversity in pathogens, with particular reference to the infectious disease agents that are responsible for malaria, influenza and bacterial meningitis. I am also interested in the evolution of host diversity under selection from infectious disease, with an emphasis on hemoglobin disorders that protect against malaria and the MHC.
