  2. The Origins of the Enneagram

The Enneagram symbol, and the ideas associated with it, don’t have a clear and simple lineage. But the various perspectives on the human condition that the Enneagram work is based in have a long pedigree woven richly with the history of western religion, philosophy and science. This talk will focus on the pivotal work of George Gurdjieff, and later of Oscar Ichazo, as well as the rich traditions that they were drawing upon. We’ll look at the actual meaning of the symbol, the sources of the typology, and trace the work back through the Hermetic doctrines to classical Greece and Egypt. In the end, we’re left with a dazzling sense of how deep the roots of this system are, and just how ancient the quest for self-knowledge actually is.

"The peace produced by grace is a spiritual stability too deep for violence – it is unshakeable.”- Thomas Merton

Join the Conversation. Join the Movement. #SACREDWISDOM

Fr. Richard Rohr, ecumenical teacher, author and founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation. See also: Richard Rohr’s personal Story from the Road: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwQFC

Rohr shares his perspective on Silence as the only thing broad enough and deep enough to hold all of the contradictions and paradoxes of Full Reality and our own reality, too. 99.9% of the known universe is silent, and it is in this space that the force fields of life and compassion dwell and expand. We can live there too!

  7. HomeFries | The Art of Simple Podcast | Confront Your Junk

Tsh talks to Leigh Kramer, an Enneagram aficionado and wise sage regarding where you suck. Or something like that.

Actually, the Enneagram is a powerful tool used to help identify personal strengths and weaknesses. More than a personality test, the Enneagram helps explain why you act the way you do when you’re stressed, and why you develop certain strengths when you’re growing. It can get confusing, so Leigh answers Tsh’s questions and shares her favorite resources for better understanding this fascinating ancient tool.
