  1. Candid #8: Mirrorless vs. DSLR | Candid

We open what may be the biggest can of worms in the photography world today: the mirrorless vs. DSLR debate. How are they different? Why choose one over the other? What are the pros and cons of each mechanism? And, most importantly, who should be shooting a mirrorless system and who should be shooting a DSLR camera? We do our best to ask and answer all the important questions in this debate.

  2. Candid #: Micro Four Nerds

Listener feedback has poured in over the first two weeks, so Marius, Álvaro, and Josh dive into answering how different sensor sizes impact your photographs. Fortunately for everyone, Álvaro and Marius lay out the basics of the physics and where the strengths and weaknesses lie with full-frame, APS-C, and Micro 4/3 sensor sizes. It gets geeky.

Talking sensor size automatically leads to the current discussion around the future of the Micro 4/3 format. Are Olympus and Panasonic targeting the right groups to maintain its business? Or should the companies consider the format’s limitations and head in a different direction?

And lastly, as both Álvaro and Josh have recently ditched Micro 4/3 for Sony’s very young full-frame mirrorless system, it makes sense to compare the best portrait lenses from both systems. Josh purchased the Nocticron during Summer 2015 and compares the lens to his first impressions of the Zeiss Batis 85mm. In short, Josh comes away amazed at how well the Nocticron holds up, but at how well priced the Zeiss Batis 85mm is on the current market. (If you can get your hands on it, of course!)
