Productivity nuts around the world like to know that the approach they are using is backed up by scientific research. In the popular Getting Things Done (2001), David Allen offered few research clues to his recommendations, mentioning a few references in passing and citing no academic papers.
Since then, a number of findings have either come to light or been accepted which support the core of his ideas. However, there are a few which are unproven and some which appear to contradict recent conclusions.
