  1. Matthew Cook: Chatting with Derek Webb

I’ve been a fan of Derek Webb since 1999. His early music speaks about a rigorous reformed spirituality that I resonated with strongly as a believer. His latest album, Fingers Crossed, is a tale of spiritual and marital divorce, and tackles the grief and confusion in their wake.

Last Thursday I sat down with singer-songwriter Derek Webb in Buffalo before a house show. We had a great conversation about his music, spiritual skills, and about the time he nearly killed RC Sproul.

It’s a longish video, so I’ve broken down our conversation below with handy-dandy selecty buttons below. Enjoy!

  4. Kelly McGonigal: How to make stress your friend

Stress. It makes your heart pound, your breathing quicken and your forehead sweat. Psychologist Kelly McGonigal urges us to see stress as a positive, and introduces us to an unsung mechanism for stress reduction: reaching out to others.
