Nice podcast. What I haven’t seen covered in blogs and news outlets with regards to the Apple Watch or any Smartwatch is this.
Do you really want all this functionality on your wrist?
I’m sure I’ll buy a Smartwatch at some point and I can say with a high degree of confidence that I’ll likely turn off all notifications. I just can’t see myself getting a vibration on the wrist for every email and text.
Will I use the screen on my wrist to to follow directions given it’s size? It’s likely I won’t. A Smartwatch will do a lot of things and it will be interesting to see what apps become available, however will it do any of these things well or better than current technology we already own. What is the user experience even like?
I haven’t seen anyone comment that when demoed it wasn’t even on the wrist. That was done by design as Apple doesn’t leave anything to chance.
It will be very interesting to see how wearable technology evolves. My gut says that simpler and smaller gear will be the long term winner in this space. For example, a ring which has a heart rate and activity monitor embedded.
I’m also sure that the Apple Watch will be a huge success though just on the mere fact that it’s Apple.
