A Conversation With Entrepreneur, Productivity Coach, and Writer Tiago Forte—
In September, I sat down with coach, entrepreneur, and writer Tiago Forte. He is the creator of BuildingASecondBrain.com, which is: “on a mission to radically improve the effectiveness of human beings while making work a vehicle for personal growth.”

Tiago is also the Founder of Forte Labs & Writer of the Praxis newsletter. His goal of helping people not just survive, but thrive, while working in modern times. “Together, we’ll expand the definition of modern knowledge work, experiment with new ways of doing more with less, and explore what it means to fulfill our human potential.”
Enjoy the conversation, and until next time - Ad Astra!

(03:02) - Reading and books were always a huge influence on Tiago (04:37) - Especially the works of James Michener (06:14) - Studying abroad in Brazil, working in microfinance in Colombia, and serving in the Peace Corps in Ukraine (09:10) - Leaving the Peace Corps and coming back…
We covered a ton in this Q&A with Producer / Manager Alexander Robb of Insignia Entertainment! Here are some highlights to help you navigate:
00:00 - Intro to Alex Robb: What brought you to LA and how did you get on the producer/manager track? 04:15 - How do you decide which of your clients’ projects you’ll also produce? And, why writers shouldn’t fear their reps also producing. 9:10 - Alex’s recent big announcement (for client Tyler Hisel’s project The Fixer) and a question it sparked in the Screenplay Lab Facebook group: "Considering this big announcement has to do with a feature, how are you advising clients or navigating this new landscape where only 30 something specs sell but over 500 TV shows are aired?" 17:00 - Technical difficulties! Alex talks about the contraction of the movie industry, but unfortunately we lose him for a few seconds. 19:00 - Alex’s caution for screenwriters writing movies and the challenges of the feature film business. 22:20 - My caveat about all of this information – take it with a grain of salt because we’re only talking about the certain type of screenwriter (Alex’s typical clients) 24:40 - I ask Alex about the "IP" aspect of this recent Facebook post: “If you’re a screenwriter, here are a few things to keep in mind in your career. I…

Yuval Noah Harari and Tristan Harris exchange their views on how technology can work for us - or against us, in a conversation moderated by Somini Sengupta, New York Times International climate reporter at the World Economic Forum in Davos. They ask- what is the state of truth? And what threat does technology pose to our capacity to mobilize that truth in response to urgent challenges - in particular, our climate emergency?
From Fritz the Cat to Mr. Natural – meet the cult cartoonist Robert Crumb, whose artistic world is full of anti-heroes and demons from modern America and his own subconscious. In this rare interview, Crumb talks frankly about refusing to adhere to political correctness, and about his never-ending urge to unravel the layers of delusion in the world – as he says: “I’m still digging.”
“I was so alienated when I was young, that drawing was like my only connection to society. That was the only thing that I could see was going to save me from a really dismal fate of God knows what.” Crumb describes his social skills as a young man as being “completely nil.” At the same time, he was driven by his “fucked-up ego,” and he had to balance those two sides. Drawing became a way for him to deal with reality, and in the 1950s, where “being a comic-book artist was the lowest level of commercial art,” he pushed toward a more personal use of the medium: “At a certain point I decided I don’t want to be America’s best-loved hippie cartoonist. I don’t want that role. So I’ll just be honest about who I am, and the weirdness, and take my chances.” Consequently, Crumb alienated a lot of people with his often provocative content: “It was just too disturbing for most people, too weird.” Crum…

I’ve put together a 30 minute video describing the Hero’s Journey step-by-step. Instead of re-reading books on the subject I’ve tackled the study by making this video. It’s meant to be very descriptive. https://marcoaslan.com - https://www.instagram.com/aslanmarco/
