  1. These Scammers Picked The Wrong Guy

If you’re a fan of the Reply All podcast, then you’re probably still processing the story they told in a recent two-part episode about the insane lengths that host Alex Goldman went to track down a phone scammer. If you haven’t heard the story, and you think you’ve seen all there is to see on the "messing with scammers" front… well, you’re in for a surprise. We strongly suggest you listen to the Reply All story first — then listen to our conversation with Alex about the whole saga on this week’s episode of the Techdirt Podcast.

  2. EOC 048: The Mission of the Green Mountain Club with Mike DeBonis - Wild Lens

    Episode Summary:

Today’s guest on the show is the Executive Director of the Green Mountain Club (GMC), Mike DeBonis.  The Green Mountain Club is the non-profit organization responsible for managing and maintaining America’s oldest long distance hiking trail, the Long Trail.  The Long Trail follows the ridgeline of the Green Mountains for 273 miles across the state of Vermont, from the Massachusetts border to the Canadian border.

Mike grew up very close to the Long Trail in Vermont, and has a background in forestry as well as long distance hiking.  Mike and I discuss the impact that the Long Trail has had on conservation efforts in the state of Vermont, as well as some of the history of the trail and how it influenced the creation of the Appalachian Trail.  Mike explains that his background in forestry has turned out to be a great benefit in his role with GMC because it has allowed him to connect the human communities along the trail to the forest ecosystems that surround them.

Mike and I also discuss our experiences hiking on both the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail, and reflect on what makes these experiences so special.  Listen in the the interview and get inspired to start a long distance hike of your own!
