  1. SdK 28: Ben Hammersley about the History of Podcasting

A deadline, one sentence left, too much coffee and a genius moment: That’s how Ben Hammersley invented the term “Podcasting” in 2004. The journalist and author explains in this episode what he thinks about the early days of podcasting, the conectivity of Twitter and podcasting and why podcasting – in a long term – increased the quality of radio.

  2. The Report: Cyberwar

Recently, attacks on international networks have targeted the computers used by both the Dalai Lama’s followers and the US power grid: Reporter and web expert Ben Hammersley assesses how serious these threats really are, how well protected the UK is against foreign cyber war and asks whether we should be developing our own aggressive military ‘botnet’ for use in future conflicts.

  3. RSA - How to Face the Digital Future Without Fear

It is impossible to separate the digital world from the one that we now live in. The internet affects every aspect of our lives – our society, our culture, our economy and our politics - and we all need to know how it works, what it can do, and what it will do in the future.

Editor-at-Large for ‘Wired’ magazine, David Cameron’s ambassador to Tech City and guru of the digital age Ben Hammersley visits the RSA to demystify the internet, decode cyberspace, and guide us through the innovations of the incredible revolution we are all living through.

Explaining the effects of the changes in the modern world, and the latest ideas in technology, culture, business and politics, Ben Hammersley will reveal this decade’s big social and technological trends, and how they intersect.

Ben Hammersley is the Prime Minister’s Ambassador to Tech City, but don’t hold that against him. He’s really quite a fascinating and charming gent and not at all a smarmy politician.

When he’s not running marathons in the Sahara desert, Ben is a writer, broadcaster and journalist. He reports on the effects of the internet on society, foreign policy, business, and culture …not just on his blog either; his writing has appeared in proper dead-tree publications like The Times, The Guardian, and Wired UK (where he is Editor at Large).
