  2. Rachel Cusk Interview: You Can Live the Wrong Life

“Discipline is a massive component of creating a body of work, and the further I get, the more I see that this really is true.” The award-winning and critically acclaimed writer Rachel Cusk here generously offers us an insight into her writing process.

“I have to experience things as unconsciously as possible, and then re-experience them as an artist.” Cusk typically has a long thinking period and a quick writing period. She attributes the relatively short period of writing to being a mother and having written in a period where she had small children: “I got into the habit of writing very, very, very quickly, and I think the mental holding of the material that I’ve described really came out of being the mother of small children, and not having the opportunity to make notes. I had to hold things and then find an opportunity to express them.” Having to work in a set period of time, she continues, was quite challenging: “For a lot of writers, the fear in the process lies around the fact that you don’t know whether you’ll be able to do it at that particular moment or not.”

Cusk compares starting a novel to “setting out on a mountain climbing trip without the right equipment, and not having read the weather forecast.” The real trial, she finds, is staying with the story, and accepting w…

  4. Tyler Cowen on “The Portal”, Ep. #016 (w/ Eric Weinstein) - The Revolution Will Not Be Marginalized.

In this episode, Eric sits down with economist Prof. Tyler Cowen to discuss how/why a Harvard educated chess prodigy would choose a commuter school to launch a stealth attack on the self-satisfied economic establishment, various forms of existential risk, tech/social stagnation and more. On first glance, Tyler Cowen is an unlikely candidate for America’s most influential economist. Since 2003, Cowen has grown his widely read and revered economics blog Marginal Revolution with lively thought, insight and prose resulting in a successful war of attrition against traditional thinking. In fact, his well of heterodox thinking is so deep that there is an argument to be made that Tyler may be the living person with the most diverse set of original rigorous opinions to be found in any conversation. The conversation takes many turns and is thus hard to categorize. We hope you enjoy it.

  7. Mark Normand Funniest Podcast Moments: Chapter 2

Follow the Podcast channel, link below! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOil1KGkeBuIInyobMq9MlA ————————————— Artwork by https://www.instagram.com/schadennn/ —————————————

    ——————————-

Mark Normand is a fun-loving, New York comedian. Ok, I’m gonna brag a little here but hey, it’s business… So far, Mark has done a Comedy Central HALF HOUR special, has appeared on TBS’s CONAN twice, Showtime’s "Live at SXSW", INSIDE AMY SCHUMER, TruTv, Best Week Ever, Last Comic Standing, @Midnight and released an album with Comedy Central records titled "Still Got It" (its not bad). In 2013 won Caroline’s March Madness competition, beating out 63 other comedians. And this is a real shocker for all of us but he was also voted Village Voice’s "Best Comedian of 2013", I know right? In 2012, Mark appeared on “John Oliver’s New York Standup Show” on Comedy Central, and in 2011 was picked as one of Comedy Central’s "Comics to Watch." Mark was born and raised in New Orleans, LA surprisingly to two normal parents. As a kid he spent most of his time shooting short films and wetting the bed. Mark started doing comedy right after college and quickly moved to New York. Mark now does comedy clubs and colleges across the country and has been involved in many festivals including Portland, Seattle, DC, Boston, an…
