  2. Substantial Sessions 03: Just Like Honey

    Tracklisting (via email, with commentary):

    01) Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine (the first Darkchild production to hit big, IIRC…great instrumental. i like this ext’d version.) 02) Lucy Pearl - Dance Tonight (THE JAM!! i play an uptempo (Bmore club) remake by Top Billin’ any chance i get.) 03) Mary J - Real Love (classic. borderline ubiquitous, but Mary is the soul queen of our generation, so it gets a pass.) 04) SWV (i think) - Don’t Walk Away (good choice.) 05) Mariah - Honey (meh. puffy. meh. "Fantasy" with ODB is the proper choice. similar vibe. but i get it. good name for a mix) 06) Force MD’s - Love You Down (NO…it’s the INOJ remake…that makes sense, timeline-wise for this mix. Booty bass. Yeeeeeaaaahhhh!) 07) Ghost Town DJ’s - My Boo (same album as that INOJ track, i believe. "So So Def Bass Allstars". More booty bass. Uh huh.) 08) ?? - Freak It Like You Want It (not on my radar…probably played it once or twice when it was new. nice "deep cut" choice.) 09) TLC - baby baby baby (niiiice. not an obvious cut. good choice. i would totally get down to this mix in college.) 10) Mary. Freakin. J. - Sweet Thing (CHOON!!!! THE OTHER JAM on this mix. IMPECCABLE CHOICE. This makes the mix. Perfect.) 11) D’Angelo - Lady (PERFECT. PERFECT. PERFECT. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.)

  8. WNYC Radio Lab - Where Am I?

"OK. Maybe you’re in your desk chair. You’re in your office. You’re in New York, or Detroit, or Timbuktu. You’re on planet Earth. But where are you, really? Radio Lab tries to find out where you are. This hour: stories of people whose brains and bodies have lost each other. We ask how does your brain keep track of your body? We’ll examine the bond between brain and body and look at what happens when it breaks. We begin with a century-old mystery: why do many amputees still feel their missing limbs? We speak with a neuroscientist who solved the problem with a magician’s trick: an optical illusion. We continue with the story of a butcher who suddenly lost his entire sense of touch. And we hear from pilots who lose consciousness and suffer out-of-body experiences while flying fighter jets." From http://podcast.com/show/15998/ and iTunes
