The Hollywood zombie is a revenge-seeking corpse with a fervent hunger for human flesh, the traditional Haitian zombie is a kind of robotic slave but the philosophical zombie is a hypothetical figure: a creature like us in every respect but with no inner life. So what does the zombie have to teach us about the nature of human consciousness?
