It was the Soviet dictator’s dream: Soldiers with no fear, with superhuman strength and endurance, who would follow any order, eat anything, and ignore pain or injury. Workers who could do the labor of ten men without complaint, with no thought of personal time off, and no desire for pay.

Throughout history, people have reported rains of frogs and fish, coming down from the sky during storms. The usual explanation offered is that waterspouts pick them up, transport them laterally through the sky, and gently deposit them far inland. Is this really what happens? More to the point, did the animals really come from the sky at all?
