Two Google-funded reports on the size and nature of the geospatial industry, globally and in the U.S., use very different methodologies than past studies. Overall revenue figures are ten times those documented in the past! What did past studies miss, if anything? And, more importantly, what do these reports tell us about our industry?

You Crossed Chelsea Bridge Yet? 14-iii-2012
Out To Lunch recovers his poise on this edition of "Late Lunch With Out To Lunch" on Resonance FM. Fired up by the ridiculous hagiography of David Toop in Wire April 2012, OTL delivers a polemic in favour of really-affective music, using Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, Tammy Wynette, Jay Williams and David Murray (his performance of Billy Strayhorn’s "Chelsea Bridge" from 1988). He also includes a field-recording from Kentish Town City Farm and voices from "The Truth About Markets", OTL’s favourite other Resonance show. All this, and a mistake at the end.

Forgotten tragedy: The loss of HMT Lancastria | The National Archives
On 17 June 1940, HMT Lancastria was sunk by a German bomber while evacuating troops from St Nazaire; over 9,000 troops were packed on board. The exact number of soldiers who died that day will never be known, though even the lowest estimates rank this as the worst British maritime disaster in history, with losses exceeding those of the Titanic and Lusitania combined. This talk attempts to explain why so many who were lost will never be accounted for.
