  5. Mike Skinner’s FACT Mix

Soon after retiring his The Streets moniker this year, Mike Skinner formed a group with former Music frontman Robert Harvey called The DOT, where Harvey would sing and Skinner would produce. Though not moving totally out of the spotlight, one of history’s most weirdly confessional rapper/musical talkers seems to be receding a bit from the microphone. Here he heads—again without uttering a word—from the studio to the DJ booth, recording a super enjoyable, hour-long house-centric mix for FACT featuring star turns from Maya Jane Coles, an insane remix of Al Stewart’s “Year of the Cat,” some Streets edits and surprise dabbles into chainsaw dubstep.
