It’s a rare opportunity for one to get to interview a personal hero, but we’ll get to that in a bit. We’ll start with the baseball stuff, as after plenty of email and a long discussion about the Michael Young soap opera, we go prospect heavy with detailed discussions of the recently published Reds, Braves and Rangers prospect lists, as well as Jason’s piece this week on the Texas farm system. Then it’s pop culture time, with special guest Steve Albini, a legend in the world of independent music. We talk Chicago punk, recording ethos and why Oney Guillen of all people is a friendly rival. It’s a great interview, and to be honest, no baseball-related guest would have excited me as much. Then it’s the goofy stuff, as Jason relates his dangerous Super Bowl Sunday.

Pick some of your favourite albums of all time; Steve Albini probably produced one of them. You may remember him from such brilliant bands as Big Black and the wonderful essay, "The Problem With Music": http://www.arancidamoeba.com/mrr/problemwithmusic.html
