    Saturn Never Sleeps is the fruitful collaboration between legendary producer King Britt and singer/artist Rucyl. For the past two years or so they have been holed up, perfecting their craft and dedicating themselves to continuing a mutant, forward thinking version of fellow Philadelphian Sun-Ra. With their debut album, Yesterday’s Machine, they have launched themselves into the spotlight, with a wide ranging tour and technologically informed sound. This mix sees the duo splitting selection duties into two engrossing parts, mixing new contemporaries such as Africa Hitech with classic BOC and Aphex tunes as well as their own Saturn Never Sleeps material. Check the album, out August 2nd on the prolific Alpha Pup Records. Speaking of Alpha Pup - their new regular NYC takeover shows have been causing quite a stir out here.     dawnrecorder.org is a music blog written by a few dudes. We do the hard work and gather an eclectic mix of top-notch tracks and package them all nicely for you. No genre limitations here— we just love music.

    Jamie XX remixed Gil Scott-Heron‘s 2010 album “I’m New Here“. When I first heard that, I thought “who cares?”. I hadn’t really listened much to either one.

    This album isn’t even out yet and it’s an album-of-the-year contender. Holy crap. “Running”, like many of tracks on “We’re New Here” is a heavy head-nodder that would feel just as comfortable up in the club as it would in your headphones at work. Also, as someone who makes music, that bass drum sound kind of gives me a boner.

    “We’re New Here” comes out February 22nd. Please, for goodness sake, preorder here.

    Another Low End Theory podcast - this one is just amazing! One of the best scratch DJs on the planet backed with the Glitch Mob. Beats are huge, bass looooow and you’ll love it. Heavy head nod beats sprinkled with some classic hip hop tracks. A great example of how the LA beat scene is flying.

    The xx beatmaker and remix-maestro, Jamie XX was commissioned by Parian fashion uber-boutique, Colette, to assemble and present an hour long mix of tunes their patrons can spend $465 on a pair of shorts to. Unsurprisingly, Jamie’s mix leans heavily toward everything big beats and wob-wob-wobbly — not that I’m complaining. There’s also a fine amount of UK Garage that will also get you going.
