Friday is considered a special and leading day of the week in Islam (sayyed ul-ayyaam) and all Muslims make every effort to attend congregational prayers in which they get to hear spiritually uplifting messages from the teachings of the Ahl ul-Bayt (as). The Friday khutbah has a individual and a social component to it, both aspects necessary for the individual Muslim and the society in which he/she resides.
